Dallas-Fort Worth passengers flying budget carrier Frontier Airlines will soon be able to hit the slopes in Colorado with the help of a new flight landing near Vail.
Starting Dec. 16, Frontier will fly twice weekly out of DFW International Airport to Eagle County Regional Airport. Introductory airfares begin at $99 for the flight landing 4 miles from Eagle, Colo., a town known for its state parks and biking trails, and about 37 miles from Vail, Colo., which sits at the base of Vail Mountain, home to the Vail Ski Resort.
“Just in time for ski season, we are thrilled to connect consumers in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area with the incredible beauty and world-class recreation that the Colorado Rockies are famous for,” said Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design for Frontier Airlines in a release.
Fort Worth-based American Airlines is the only other airline at DFW offering a daily flight to Eagle County Regional Airport, with frequency varying throughout the year, according to data from aviation analytics company Cirium. Dallas Love Field has no flights to Vail, although charter carrier JSX flies to Gunnison, Colo. near Crested Butte.
